Daydream: Water Swirls

        May 27^th 2012, another day at the boathouse. Every afternoon and night is pretty much the same. I come to work with my coffee in thermos and sunglasses on. The lunch time row is now over and stillness comes over. I get lost in my thoughts again, thinking of her, the way she looks at the water. The way she hovers over the docks,  waiting  for fish to jump up at the flies. Stillness is always with her, she knows it and so do I. I imagine she is thinking of someone she likes maybe the cute rower and her dog; they smile  and chat everyday at  4 pm. She looks “deep in thought” they say like she is mentally saving the solution to the universe and even the 11^th dimension. Then she looks up between tying up a boat. She smiles quickly looks over to see no one is there and returns to the jog to look into the water swirls. Maybe she is thinking of the world as a water swirl, where we are pushed into a perfect funnel and we all think we are the centre and still. Some of the older people see her as distant and stand offish but I see her as lonely. They have told me she is lonely and only has a few friends and her dogs. People who know her say she is weird, quiet, nice and incredibly interesting even entertaining. Why doesn’t she show me this? Why does she hide it away in silence and thought? I think she is creative, worldly and loving. She is afraid I will break her heart. So I walk back on the trail around the pond as she stares into those water swirls. When she returns I will dissipate off the trail and return back to sleep in her mind.
